“‘Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?'”
-Professor Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
By reading this, you have already taken the most challenging step in your journey by seeking help. Bonnie (she/her) knows that silent battles are often the most difficult, and asking for help can feel overwhelming. Her mission is to meet you where you are with a flashlight to battle the darkness together. There is no battle that is too messy or individual that is too much.
Education:
Bonnie is a student intern pursuing a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wake Forest University. Previously, Bonnie received a BA in Health and Wellness Education and an MS in Health and Human Performance from Pittsburg State University. Bonnie’s experience and education allow her to creatively blend health and mental health into a holistic wellness approach.
Hobbies:
If you cannot find Bonnie in the office, she is off hammocking in the forest or getting lost in a book. When indoors, she can be found making chocolate chip cookies while listening to Nirvana or planning her next adventure. While traveling is exciting, Bonnie finds nothing sweeter than sharing a cup of coffee with her wife while their dog, Henry, loudly snores in the background.
Specialties:
Ages 16+. Bonnie has a passion for working with individuals who are a part of the LGBTQ+ family, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, LGBTQ+ relationships, couples, and religious trauma. Using integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person Centered Therapy, she creates a safe and comforting space by prioritizing the therapeutic relationship through authentic connection. Spiced with laughter, tears, and everything in between, you are welcomed and affirmed precisely as you are.
Please note: all therapists at Works Counseling Center are LGBT+ competent and committed to anti racism.
