Choosing a therapist is a big decision, especially when you’re already carrying a lot. Sam understands that therapy isn’t just about talking—it’s about feeling heard and finding your way back to a sense of control over your life and your body. In their sessions, Sam focuses on creating a space where you can be yourself—no pretenses, no pressure. Together, you’ll build a relationship where you can explore what’s on your mind and in your body, knowing that you’re in a place of genuine understanding and care.

Education:

Sam is a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Master Social Worker with a strong foundation in helping individuals navigate life’s complexities. Originally from Indiana, Sam has brought their expertise and passion for social work and therapy to Arizona and now in Tennessee, where they have been making a difference for 3 years. With a Master’s in Social Work from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Saint Francis with concentrations in psychology and research, Sam is well-equipped to support diverse populations through various challenges.

My Style:

Sam’s approach to therapy is deeply person-centered and strengths-based. They are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space where clients of all ages can explore their feelings, share their experiences, and take control of their healing journey. Grounding exercises and coping skills are integral to Sam’s practice, helping clients feel more centered and in control. Whether working through behavioral challenges in young people, relationship issues with partners or peers, or major life transitions for adults, Sam is dedicated to empowering clients to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.

Hobbies and Interests:

Outside of the therapy room, Sam is a creative soul with ever-evolving hobbies. Currently, they enjoy diving into video games, but their interests often shift to other creative pursuits like embroidery and clay creations. Sam has a passion for watching documentaries, exploring farmers markets, and attending live music. Traveling to new places with their partner and experimenting with mocktail recipes at home are some of the simple joys that bring balance to their life.

Specialties:

Throughout their career, Sam has worked extensively with young people, families, and individuals experiencing life transitions. They have a particular focus on supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as those experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD and C-PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, medical trauma, chronic illnesses, and substance use. Sam is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. They also incorporate play therapy techniques for younger clients and emphasize the importance of mindfulness and somatic awareness, believing that feeling safe in one’s body is key to healing.
