“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
Intro:
I’m really glad you’re here. You’ve taken one of the biggest steps in your journey in recognizing the need for community and support. Reaching out isn’t easy-it takes courage, self-awareness, and a willingness to grow. Whether you are navigating anxiety, grief, relationships, or simply feeling stuck, know that you don’t have to do it alone. Therapy is a space where your experiences are honored, your story matters, and healing is possible. I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy, curiosity, and care.
Education:
MacKenzie received her Masters of Social Work degree from Howard University, with a concentration in criminal justice. Additionally, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fisk University, double majoring in Psychology and Sociology.
Style:
MacKenzie’s therapeutic approach to therapy is integrative, trauma-informed, and rooted in the belief that healing is possible when we create a safe, compassionate place for all parts of ourselves. Drawing from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I tailor each session to meet your unique needs. With EMDR, we work gently to process past experiences that may be keeping you stuck in patterns of distress. IFS helps us explore your internal system-your “parts”-with curiosity and compassion, allowing you to build a more connected and harmonious relationship with yourself. DBT offers practical tools for emotion regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness, supporting you in staying grounded and balanced as you grow.
Hobbies:
MacKenzie likes to spend her free time cooking, watching movies, hand-crocheting blankets, and snuggling with her cat, Shaggy. Valuing adventure and friendships, MacKenzie also spends much of her time trying new restaurants and events in the city.
