Intro
Growing up in the South, Rod understands both the joys and the challenges that come with being a sexual minority. He is committed to helping you navigate the hard moments and celebrate the meaningful ones. If you’re looking for a space where you’ll be met with curiosity, compassion, and genuine presence, he’d be honored to work with you.
Education:
Rod earned a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Belmont University and has additional training in both individual and couples therapy. Before becoming a therapist, he spent many years as a professor and researcher in Animal Science, bringing a rich background in teaching, mentorship, and human development to his clinical work.
Style:
Rod’s approach to therapy is experiential and humanistic. He works by slowing things down, exploring what’s happening inside you in the present moment, and supporting the emergence of your authentic self. His style is supportive, compassionate, and deeply curious. He integrates relational Gestalt therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Brainspotting to meet you where you are and help you grow into who you’re becoming.
Hobbies:
Outside the therapy room, Rod enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, caring for his animals (a dog, two cats, and four goats), and watching great films.
Specialties:
Individual therapy, group therapy, couples therapy, play therapy, depression, anxiety, and trauma.
