Hi, I’m Abby! I have always had a passion for mental health and have often found myself being the friend that people come to when they need someone to listen, talk things through with, or simply sit with them during a difficult time. That natural desire to support and understand others is what ultimately led me to pursue a career as a therapist. I believe therapy should be a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can show up exactly as you are. I am passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, and I believe every person deserves to feel seen, respected, valued, and safe enough to talk honestly about what they are experiencing. Above all else, I believe deeply in the worth and value of human life. My goal is to meet each client with compassion and curiosity rather than judgment, while recognizing that everyone’s experiences, identities, relationships, and circumstances are unique.
Education
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Creative and Entertainment Industries with a specialization in Music Business from Belmont University, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University.
Hobbies
Outside of counseling and school, I love going to concerts, discovering new music, painting, exploring Nashville coffee shops, and spending time with the people I love. I have always felt especially connected to Nashville’s creative and music communities, and I love being surrounded by art, music, and other forms of creativity. I’m also a big believer in finding joy in the little things, whether that’s trying a new coffee shop, going to a concert, or spending time with friends and family.
Specialties
I am especially interested in working with anxiety, self-esteem, body image, identity exploration, life transitions, relationship concerns, grief and loss, and creatives and musicians navigating the unique pressures that can come with their work and identities. Grief is particularly meaningful to me because I have experienced the loss of my own dad. While everyone’s experience of grief is different, that experience has given me a deeper appreciation for how profoundly loss can affect every part of someone’s life and how important it is to have a space where grief does not have to be minimized, rushed, or “fixed.” I am also passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community and creating an affirming environment for clients of all genders, sexualities, races, backgrounds, and identities. I believe therapy should be individualized to each person, and I want to work collaboratively with clients to find what feels most helpful for them.
Please note: all therapists at Works Counseling Center are LGBT+ competent and committed to anti racism.
