Halfway through the year this therapist is sharing her top 5 books so far! I love doing these blog posts and sharing something I love so much with those who choose to read. Reading is something that brings me immense joy. Whether I am sitting by the pool reading a physical paperback summer beach read, sitting at the office between sessions because I can’t wait to see if the enemies will turn into lovers, or simply running errands and listening to the heroin find out, she has ancient powers that no one has seen in a century; reading is something that restores me and allows me to habit stack to get my personal needs met, which is why I love sharing my hobbies with you all!

The Curse of Saints by Kate Dramis

The Curse of Saints by Kate Dramis

This was such a joy to read! I didn’t know if I would get into it when I first started it, but I was delighted the whole way through this read! Our main character, Aya, is a spy and the Queen’s third-in-command. She has spent her entire life to earn this position and has one hell of a reputation. But when she is forced with her least favorite person, the Queen’s second-in-command, everything starts to take a turn! This book has political intrigue, enemies lovers trope, and so much more! If you are looking for a high-stakes adventure romance, this is your book for the summer!

Your Brain’s Not Broken: Strategies for Navigating Your Emotions and Life with ADHD by Tamara Rosier, PhD

Your Brain’s Not Broken: Strategies for Navigating Your Emotions and Life with ADHD by Tamara Rosier, PhDThis was one of my first reads of the year, and it is my most recommended book for any of my clients diagnosed or suspect they have ADHD. Not only is it a fast read, 208 pages or 6-hour audiobook listen, but it also covers many facets of ADHD. It is hard to find ADHD resources that only discuss the inattentive type or help with only one symptom of ADHD. In this book, Dr. Rosier talks about all the benefits and struggles an ADHD brain goes through and offers the reader insight and understanding. ADHD is a diagnosis, but it is also a superpower, and this book recognizes that. I highly recommend this book!

A Lady for a Duke – Alexis Hall

This is a historical romance about Viola Carroll, who can finally be her authentic self after the grueling war. However, Viola is not the only one who has changed. When the two families reconnect, Viola sees the toll it has taken on her childhood friend Justin de Vere, who suffers from the loss of war. The two are forced together and find that there is still so much between them and more. I loved every second of this read and found the story charming and heartwarming. You will love Viola from page one.

Thank You For Listening – Julia Whelan

Thank You For Listening – Julia WhelanThe first thing I need to say about this book is that I implore you to listen to it. Both the author and the two main characters are audiobook narrators, so to truly appreciate this book, you need to witness the awesomeness that is audio narration firsthand. This is about a woman named Sewanee who is asked to narrate a romance novel with a co-narrator. This book is full of love, family, grief, humor, and an incredible story about being human.

I’m So (Not) Over You – Kosoko Jackson

I’m So (Not) Over You – Kosoko JacksonThis is my most recent read, and it quickly reached the top of the pack! Kian is a recent college graduate struggling to get over his ex, Hudson, and find a job in his dream journalism career. After a run-in with Hudson, Kian finds himself as Hudson’s fake boyfriend after a quick favor turned into a wedding weekend. Kian is such a funny narrator, and both characters have so much heart you will swoon the entire read! This book will make you laugh and blush the whole way through.
