About Leah Koesten
Nashville , TN 37205
Leah (she, her) is a passionate advocate for creating relational change with both self and others. Leah believes that knowledge of and alignment with the whole, authentic self is a crucial starting point for facilitating these changes. Leah offers a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental space for clients to both discover and build their core values and beliefs. Together, you and Leah will harness these and use them as a catalyst for growth.
Leah received her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of West Alabama in December of 2021 and is currently working toward licensure. Leah has worked in the field of substance abuse treatment since 2016 and obtained certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist in 2017. Leah’s personal journey with mental health and substance abuse provided the foundation for her desire to help others who are struggling. Leah is committed to continuing her education to best be of service to others.
Leah is dedicated to working primarily with teens and adults who experience challenges with addiction and substance abuse, trauma, mental health, life transitions, and relationships. Leah strives to be a strong and empathetic ally for all her clients by providing understanding, positive regard, and by meeting people where they are. She primarily implements an integrative, evidenced-based approach in her practice by using person-centered and solution-focused therapy, DBT skills, ACT, REBT, and attachment theory.
In her spare time, Leah employs her own support system for self-care and continued growth. She sings in the Nashville Symphony Chorus, loves watching true crime shows, snuggles with her cat, and enjoys quality time with family and friends.
